Esquivel Shoes Opening Behind Douglas Fir

May 16th, 2008 · No Comments

3rd-street-block-party-070.jpg
At the West 3rd Street block party during the holidays, the husband and I were mesmerized by Esquivel Shoes at Douglas Fir. Turns out, designer George Esquivel is opening a by-appointment-only shop, B.Spoke behind Douglas Fir this weekend. I just posted about the new store on Racked LA. The shoes are very pricey, but very beautiful and amazingly crafted.

Shopping Mayhem at Rogan for Target at Barneys Press Preview!

May 16th, 2008 · No Comments

I went to cover the press preview/pre-sale for Rogan for Target last night, which launched at Barneys Beverly Hills. People went nuts shopping the line, which is stand-out quality as compared to the other Target designer collab, eco-minded, and filled with summery cottons ad linens. Kind of odd to spend $100 on four items at Barneys! The line will be at Barneys through Sunday, which overlaps with the launch of the line at Target the same day. For complete coverage and lots of pics, check my post at Racked LA.

Event: Walk for the Underdog

May 16th, 2008 · No Comments

Adorable pet event alert! A friend of mine emailed me about this:

“This Sunday the La Brea Tar Pits will play host to a thousand+ little feet. Walk for the Underdog (www.walkfortheunderdog.com) is a charity walk-a-thon event and adoption festival, to be held in its 4th year, where people and their pets strut it to raise funds for the “underdogs.” The actual walk is only a mile, however, day-long festivities will include, bands, food, dog adoptions, and a silent auction to benefit rescue organizations. Over 30 vendors including Andrea Levine Jewelry (www.andrealevinejewelry.com) and LA’s own Urban Tails pet store (www.urbantails.net) will be on hand, so you can walk, adopt, and then buy some goodies for your new pal. It looks like last year someone lifted the velvet rope to let a few crusading celebrities into the event—Amy Smart, Linda Blair, model Jaime King, Melina Kanakaredes, and Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard. [This event is open to all.] “

The Flip Spork!

May 14th, 2008 · 1 Comment

img_3984.JPG
Not to advocate for more plastic utensils in the world, but this is pretty smart design. Atop this edamame seaweed salad from Trader Joe’s at 3rd and La Brea (probably not for everyone, but, I say mmmm), is this flip spork (patent pending), which could make toting yogurt and other cup-like edibles very convenient. Just take it out, and flip and click it open. See below.
